Tiny, Jan and Lamont Hawthorne
After Jan and Lamont Hawthorne’s rescued Weimaraner, Tiny, attacked his brother, Tater, in April 2014, the family was faced with a decision no pet owner imagines making – ultimately deciding to euthanize Tiny. Determined to create a positive situation out of heartbreak, Jan quickly began researching pet organ donation, finding Likarda and its Kansas City-based pet organ donation network. - Read Tiny’s Story -
Blaire, Robyn and Gene Zwolinski
In early July, Robyn Zwolinski and her husband, Gene, decided it was time to put down their 13-year-old West Highland terrier, Blaire. The past couple years had been hard for Blaire: she had lost her sight and had begun to develop a dogs version of dementia.
